A late header from Temi Eweka saw the Stones come from behind to claim a point away at Boreham Wood.

Maidstone had a couple of half chances early on. Jon Benton’s effort from outside the area looked to be on target but it took a big deflection off a Stones player and went wide. Then from a Charlie Seaman throw, Reece Greenidge headed wide.

There was a lengthy delay as former Maidstone player Josh Hare received treatment for a facial injury. His replacement, David Agbontohoma, was to give Boreham Wood the lead later on in the first half.

An incisive pass put Erico Sousa away in space down the right. He delivered a great ball into the corridor of uncertainty but excellent defending from  Eweka saw the Maidstone player slide in to put the ball behind.

Five minutes before the break, Maidstone failed to clear their lines following a Boreham Wood corner. The ball dropped to Agbontohoma who hit a great rising shot on the turn which had too much power on it for Alexis Andre Jnr to keep it out of the net.

The Stones nearly got an immediate equaliser. Ben Brookes’ throw was headed forward by Bivesh Gurung to Aaron Blair who saw his placed effort come back off the right post.

In the early stages of the second half, the home side should have extended their lead. Mo Sagaf turned into space but he couldn’t keep his shot down and it sailed over. Not long after this, Maidstone were unable to prevent the ball being worked into Erico Sousa and from a good position, he put his effort wide.

The Stones thought they had equalised on 63 minutes. Charlie Seaman crossed from the right and Jon Benton riffled the ball into the net only for the goal to be ruled out for a handball.

Nine minutes from time, Maidstone were awarded a corner after a scramble in the box. The ball was cleared back out to Ben Brookes who crossed to the back post and Greenidge headed a good opportunity wide.

However, the Stones did grab an equaliser on 86 minutes. A long throw from Brookes was met by Eweka who headed in his second goal of the season.
