Maidstone United Women came from behind to earn a draw against Margate at the Gallagher this afternoon.
The Stones dominated the opening half-hour with numerous attempts on goal but couldn’t break down a resolute Margate defence.
It was the visitors who struck first, taking the lead in the 36th minute through Katie George – a goal they carried into the half-time break.
Maidstone switched shape at the start of the second half, but it was Margate who came closest to doubling their advantage early on.
Kylie Manktelow brought the Stones level with a thunderous strike from just outside the area on 51 minutes – her 17th goal of the season.
Despite relentless pressure, Maidstone were denied time and again as they pushed for all three points, and Manktelow saw a second-half effort ruled out.
The Stones now take a break from league action next Sunday when they welcome Bromley Development to the Gallagher in the GoCardless Kent Women’s Plate.
