Stones under-23s climbed back to the top of the table this evening with a professional display against a well-organised Herne Bay side.
With injuries and player commitments elsewhere, this was an opportunity for a much-rotated team to showcase the dividends of their hard work over the past couple of weeks.
The first half took time to settle, but after a great sequence of play through the lines, Delvane Kattah released Mark Boruk, who rounded the keeper to give Maidstone a deserved lead just before the half-hour mark.
The momentum continued when, 10 minutes later, Arlito Legisi powered his way down the right-hand side and into the box before smashing a finish into the near post to double the lead before the break.
The second half highlighted a different side to the Stones as they defended with discipline to secure the clean sheet – thanks in no small part to another outstanding performance from Lucas Brookman.
This result ensures Maidstone remain undefeated and extends their impressive defensive record, having conceded only nine goals in the first eight games.
If you haven’t yet seen this team in action, make a note in your diary for next Tuesday when Faversham Town visit the Gallagher.
