Maidstone United Women are through to the third round of the league cup after an emphatic 10-1 victory over Sellindge Women.

The Stones dominated possession in the opening minutes and took the lead through Kylie Manktelow’s close-range finish after nine minutes.

Further chances followed before Ellie Hinkley doubled the lead on 25 minutes, following some neat play between captain Annie White and Tilly Rowsell. Georgia Culpitt added her name to the scoresheet on the half-hour mark, slotting the ball home at the near post.

Sellindge pulled one back five minutes before the break, with Yasmin Smith lobbing Cara Davies in the Maidstone goal.

Maidstone made their first change at the start of the second half, with Neve Platt replacing Kady Wilkinson and whatever was said at half-time clearly had an impact, as the Stones asserted their dominance.

Georgia Pearch restored the three-goal cushion eight minutes into the second half. Five minutes later, Manktelow added her second and Maidstone’s fifth, quickly followed by her hat-trick.

Between Manktelow’s goals, the Stones made four substitutions: Jas Etheridge, Chi Madamombe, Kelsi Wilkinson and Tori Campbell came on for Freya Boorman, Ellie Hinkley, Annie White and Maddie Dale.

It was seventh heaven on 71 minutes, as Culpitt’s ball across the box was slotted home by Madamombe. Player-manager Campbell made it eight, before Tilly Rowsell and Kelsi Wilkinson rounded off the scoring to make it nine and ten.

Maidstone have been drawn at home to Kings Hill in round three. The match will be played at the Gallagher Stadium on Sunday 4 January, with kick-off at 15:15.
