The Stones started brightly, but it was the visitors – who play two divisions higher – who opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
Despite that early setback, Tori Campbell’s side dug deep and equalised through Kylie Manktelow, her first of two goals. Ellie Hinkley then put the Stones in front just after the half-hour mark, but the teams went into the break level after a superb long-range effort beat Cara Davies.
Manktelow restored Maidstone’s advantage on the hour, and Georgia Culpitt gave the Stones some breathing space eight minutes later.
There were further chances for the Stones to extend their lead, with player-manager Tori Campbell having several attempts on goal. A strong team effort restricted the visitors to limited opportunities to get back into the game.
Maidstone will find out on Monday evening who they will face in the first round. The draw will be made live on TNT Sports’ YouTube channel.
