Maidstone United Women’s midfielder Ellie Hinkley produced a remarkable display of determination and resilience on Sunday 7th September, excelling both on the streets of London and on the pitch.

Earlier in the day, Hinkley joined thousands of runners at The Big Half half marathon, completing the 13.1-mile course in an impressive two hours. Just hours later, she pulled on the Maidstone shirt in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup tie against Oxted.

Despite playing only 45 minutes, Hinkley made her mark in style, scoring in the 43rd minute to put the Stones ahead.

Speaking after the game, she said:
“I was already on such a high after my half marathon but knew I had to focus on winning this game and of course I was buzzing to get a goal.”

After being substituted at half-time, Hinkley reflected on her remarkable day:
“When I came off, I knew the girls would seal the win so I was happy to sit back and enjoy the game after running a total of 32km that day.”

Hinkley’s extraordinary effort highlights her commitment, fitness, and passion for the Stones — qualities that continue to inspire everybody involved with the team – Well done Ellie!
