It was a second defeat in a row away from the Gallagher Stadium for the Stones as they were narrowly beaten by Slough Town.
There was very little to note in the first 45 minutes. With six minutes gone, a decent ball across the box fell nicely to Josh Jackman who swept a nice finish past the diving Lucas Covolan.
Maidstone never really threatened in the first half. The closest they came was when Sam Bone clipped a good ball down the line to Riley Court and he found Jephte Tanga probably had room to shoot but he tricked his way into more space and his resultant effort was comfortably held by Dan Lincoln.
The Stones made a double substitution at half time. Timmy Abraham and Raphe Brown replaced Matt Rush and Chi Ezennolim. And within minutes of the restart, Brown had been booked. From the resultant free-kick, Scott Davies’ low shot looked to be going in until Covolan intervened to get a touch onto the post.
Then not long past the hour, Mo Faal was tripped just inside the box. Faal took the penalty and it had just enough power to get past Lincoln to give him a goal on his debut for Maidstone.
Shortly after this, the Stones went close again. Tanga drove a fierce effort towards goal and Lincoln did well to make the block.
Maidstone were then reduced to ten men after Raphe Brown was shown a second yellow card for a challenge in midfield on substitute Slavi Spasov. The Stones kept going and Mo Faal beat the offside trap only to shoot weakly against Lincoln. Then Bone tried his luck from 40 yards and Lincoln had to push the ball wide.
But on 83 minutes, Slough hit the Stones on the break. The ball was quickly worked to Johnny Goddard who placed his shot just inside the right post to give Slough all three points.
