Maidstone United U23s climbed to the top of the league for the first time this season with a dominant 7-0 victory over Faversham Town U23s, a performance that underlined both their attacking firepower and growing defensive solidity.
The Stones set the tone early. Mark Boruk opened the scoring with a superb finish into the top corner after being played through on the edge of the box. From there, Maidstone controlled the first half, carving out multiple chances to extend their lead. Only an inspired display from the Faversham goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable heading into half time.
A tactical reshuffle during the break clearly had the desired effect. Maidstone came out rejuvenated, and after a flowing move down the left, Delvane Kattah powered home their second, a well-deserved goal that sparked a ruthless spell of attacking football.
What followed was a devastating 20-minute surge in which the Stones struck five times in just 25 minutes, completely overwhelming the visitors and turning the match into a big win.
While the attacking play stole the headlines, the collective defensive work shouldn’t go unnoticed: the side has now conceded just nine goals in their first nine games, a testament to their discipline and structure.
With momentum firmly on their side and top spot secured, Maidstone U23s now turn their attention to their next challenge: Hastings United away on Monday (1 December).
