All of the goals came before half time. With 15 minutes played, Golding passed to Jephte Tanga who moved towards the by-line before standing up a great cross to Kargbo who showed equally good technique to power a header into the net.

Maidstone could have scored again moments later. Golding did well to rob Jac Pofflley and although he touched the ball past Will Henry, he was crowded out with Kargbo well placed.

Sam Corne then won the ball deep in the Maidstone half. He worked it to Golding who released Kargbo with a lovely through pass. Henry was smartly off his line though and he made a decent save to deny Kargbo.

It was then Nathan Harness’ turn to make a good save with his legs. A good ball forward put Olaf Koszela in on goal but he couldn’t find a way past Harness.

The Stones assumed a commanding lead with two goals inside four minutes late on in the half. Lexus Beeden did well to roam down left and he crossed to Kargbo who chested the ball down to John Gilbert who swept a simple finish in from close range.

Then with half time imminent, David Sesay surged into the box. He unselfishly picked out Golding whose fierce effort smashed in off the underside of the cross bar before it bounced back out and the assistant referee flagged to say the goal stood.

Not long after the break, Tanga got to the by-line before crossing. The ball eventually came to Corne who knocked it back to TJ Bramble and his rising shot cleared the bar.

Chippenham might have pulled a goal back shortly after this. Ethan Vaughan saw an opportunity to get a strike in on goal which Harness beat away. The visitors recycled the ball and Olaf Koszela put the ball into the side netting.

Not long after this, both Vaughan and Koszela were replaced as the visitors made a triple substitution. And the Stones then made a double change with Golding and Kargbo replaced by Deon Moore and Riley Court.

With 65 minutes gone, Antony Papadopoulos’s corner was met by George Fowler. His glancing header struck the left post.

Sixty seconds later, Harness had to be alert to come racing out and put the ball out of play as substitute Owen-Evans looked to get in on goal. Play immediately swung to the other end with substitute Deon Moore striking a fierce effort from just outside the box which Henry pushed away.
