It’s the third and final qualifying round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup this Sunday, as Maidstone United host Badshot Lea at the Gallagher Stadium. Kick off 14:00
The visitors, who compete in the Southern Region Women’s Football League – two divisions above Maidstone – arrive on the back of a commanding 5-0 win over Basingstoke Town in the previous round.
Despite their cup success, it’s been a tough start to the league campaign for the Surrey-based side. They’ve lost all four fixtures so far and sit bottom of the table with a goal difference of minus 13.
Maidstone have enjoyed a strong run in the cup, beating Oxted & District and Richmond & Kew with identical 5-1 scorelines. Tori Campbell’s side are also unbeaten in the SECWFL Premier Division, having recorded a 5-0 away win at Margate and a dominant 9-1 victory over Chislehurst Glebe last Sunday.
Can the Stones reach the first round proper? Tori and her team would love your support this weekend. Admission prices have been reduced to encourage as many fans as possible to get down to the Gallagher.
The Spitfire Lounge and Town End Cut n’ Grill will be open throughout the afternoon.
- Players from Maidstone United Diamonds and Maidstone United Sapphires will be mascots for this game. The women’s teams play in the Kent Disability League and have done for the past nine years.
- The Diamonds were promoted last season, with Neve Moore scoring 96 of the 119 goals scored that season. The team also went the season without conceding. If you’d like to join, please call Lorraine Humm on 07880 907188.
