A late equaliser deep into stoppage time at the end of this game from Joe Grant saw Maidstone and Chesham share the points. Goals of real quality from Aaron Blair and Shaq Coulthirst had enabled the Stones to come from behind to lead but the result means that Maidstone are still searching for their first home league win of the season.

There was little in the way of goalmouth action in the first half. With nine minutes gone, a long throw from Charlie Seaman came out to Antony Papadopoulos. A neat touch from Papadopoulos gave him the opportunity to shoot with the outside of his boot and Ben Goode gathered the ball.

Not long after this, Maidstone had Alexis Andre Jr to thank for keeping the scores level. Nathan Minhas’ curling effort was going in but he was denied by a good save from Andre Jr.

A decent free-kick from Seaman was met by Temi Eweka who headed over before the Stones might have had a shout for a penalty. Matt Bentley tried to flick the ball over the head of Jack Cawley and it appeared to strike the former Stones defender’s hand.

The deadlock was finally broken on 38 minutes thanks to a horrendous mix up at the back from Maidstone. George Fowler tried to slide in to win the ball on the edge of the area and collided with Andre Jr giving Minhas the simple task of passing into an unguarded net.

Minhas was involved again on 57 minutes. Maidstone got caught out by a decent cut back which Minhas was alert to and his low drive was stopped by Andre Jr’s legs.

With 20 minutes to go, George Elokobi bought on Jordan Higgs, who had been absent since getting injured on the opening day of the season at St Albans and Shaq Coulthirst. The two subs had an almost impact when Higgs went for goal and Coulthirst got a flick but Goode made an excellent save.

However, on 73 minutes, Maidstone drew level with a fine goal. Papadopoulos played the ball out to the left to Blair who cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable finish into the right side of the net.

Four minutes from time, the Stones went in front with another lovely goal. Blair played a one two with Higgs before putting a nice pass into Coulthirst who was inside the box. Coulthirst made space before placing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

Chesham were then awarded a free-kick 25 yards from goal in a central position. Cawley went for goal and the ball just cleared the bar.

With six minutes of stoppage time played, Coulthirst conceded a free-kick. The ball was sent diagonally into the box and Callum Adebiyi put a low cross into the six yard box where Grant tapped it into the net to give Chesham a last gasp equaliser.
