With a few knocks in the camp from Saturday, George Elokobi looked to freshen up the side by making three changes with David Agbontohoma, Riley Court and Josh Redfearn all coming in.

From the offset, the Seagulls looked to take the game to the Stones when Louis Britton struck a half volley just wide of the right hand post with just under a minute on the clock. John Gilbert came close not long after when he picked a loose ball around 20 yards out before looking to bend the ball past keeper Max Harris but the Weston man was equal to the task as he parried it away from danger.

It seemed like an opener was coming from the early stages and it was Weston who opened the scoring when the ball kindly fell to James Waite on the edge of the box before slotting his low effort into the bottom left hand corner, giving Nathan Harness no chance.

Weston used their early game momentum to their advantage as the ball kept setting up for shots from distance but Jake Hicks could only put it way over with a difficult volley. The Stones needed to find a threat and Dajon Golding got a sight of goal mid-way through the first half as he cut inside with David Sesay on the overlap, but Golding opted for the shot which went marginally over the bar.

It was to get worse for the Stones when Leo Hamblin lost possession, which allowed Waite to be provider this time as his low ball across the 6-yard box saw Britton lose Agbontohoma to tap in the second goal of the evening.

Despite a few small moments of promise, our attacking threat came to very little but Riley Court was close to pulling one back after a lovely cross from Hamblin on the left hand side but Harris was there to hold onto the ball well.

In the second half when the Stones really needed to start on the front foot, they were held to a killer third goal which all but settled the contest. Will Dawes saw the run of Britton who beat the offside trap before rounding Harness and passing into an empty net.

Whilst the Stones kept huffing and puffing, when Harris drops the ball from a routine cross and a wall of bodies block Riley Court’s shot, you knew it wasn’t going to be our night.

Weston kept on searching for more and despite a couple of half chances flashing across goal, it wasn’t going to dampen what was a productive evening for the home side who collected their fifth National League South win in a row.
