There was little in the way of goalmouth action at the Gallagher Stadium as Maidstone United and Hampton and Richmond Borough shared the points.
After defeat against Truro City on Saturday, George Elokobi made four changes to the line up. Sam Smith, Matt Bentley, Riley Court and Arj Krasniqi were replaced by Reece Greenidge, Shaq Couthirst, Bruno Andrade and Bivesh Gurung.
The first half was quiet with neither keeper having that much to do but Alexis Andre Jr was called into action early on. Jake Gray slipped the ball into Bunmi Babajide but Andre Jr was alert to the danger and he was smartly off the line and made the block.
On 19 minutes, Jon Benton got into space on the right of the box. The angle was tight but he opted to get a quick shot away which Ted Curd comfortably saved.
Not long after this, it was Bruno Andrade’s turn to beat the offside trap. Curd came rushing out though and snuffed out the danger.
With 61 minutes played, Hampton and Richmond Borough went close to taking the lead. Josh Keeya let fly from just outside the box and his effort fizzed inches wide of the right post.
With Maidstone struggling to create much, George Elokobi made a double substitution, bringing on Pierre Fonkeu for Bruno Andrade and replacing Bivesh Gurung with Arj Krashniqi. And it was Fonkeu who was involved in a move which nearly led to a Stones goal. He found Jon Benton who passed to Aaron Blair and his shot on the turn drew a smart one handed stop from Curd.
For Hampton, Jaden Brissett replaced Bunmi Babajide and Brissett was quickly involved in the action. He delivered an enticing cross from the left which was met by substitute Alex Wall whose volley flew across the face of goal and just wide.
With three minutes of stoppage time played, Ben Brookes put a cross into the box. It reached Shaq Couthirst but his header went over the bar.
