Another pre-season game, another victory for the Stones. This time a solitary strike was enough to see Maidstone edge past National League opposition in the form of Woking.

There was little to note in the first half although the Stones had to substitute George Fowler for Reiss Greenidge on 29 minutes.  Ben Brookes also had to have treatment after a heavy challenge from Lewis Walker.

And it was Walker who came the closest to breaking the deadlock on 13 minutes. He did well to make room for a shot which flew through a crowd and Alexis Andre made a decent parry as he flung himself to his right.

For the Stones, they created a couple of half chances. A Charlie Seaman free-kick towards the near post was put wide by Matt Bentley who was under pressure.

Then another ball from Seaman went across the box this time. Trialist A saw his drive blocked and it rebounded to Jordan Higgs whose effort was also on target but it was also stopped by the Woking defence.

Shortly before half time, Ben Brookes sent an inciting curling ball into the the area. It came to Higgs whose effort went wide.

Just as in the first half, it was Woking who threatened first after the break. Denton Lewis found himself in space and was aiming for the right side of the net with a low shot only for Alexis Andre to make a good save.

It was the Stones who broke the deadlock on 61 minutes. Aaron Blair did well to win the ball back deep in Woking territory. Maidstone quickly built on this as Arj Kransinqi slipped the ball to Trialist A down the left. Trialist A advanced to the touchline before sending a decent ball in which Matt Bentley glanced into the net.

Maidstone then made 10 substitutions, with only Greenidge remaining from the first half. Woking went very close to an equaliser with 20 minutes remaining. The ball came to Dale Gorman whose rising effort looked certain to hit the net only for substitute Lenny Holden to intervene to superbly tip the ball onto the bar.

Late on AJ Clark went close to adding a second for Maidstone. With four minutes remaining, he steered a half volley just wide of the left post.
