4-1

The Stones were involved in another high-scoring pre-season friendly but this time they were on the victorious side as they put four goals past Larkfield and New Hythe.

Maidstone gave a debut to Lenny Holden in goal and fielded just two trialists in the first half. The Stones enjoyed the best of the first 45 minutes and went close with four minutes gone. Shaq Coulhirst squared the ball to Trialist B who shot just wide.

But with 22 minutes gone, Maidstone took the lead. Trialist C struck a well taken free-kick from just outside the box which curled into the left side of the net.

Larkfield and New Hythe only had one opportunity in the first half. Alvin Turyatemba had a low drive from the edge of the box which was comfortably stopped by Holden.

Then with five minutes to go before the break, Harry Kyprianou managed to find Riley Court in the box. Court was under pressure but he squeezed the ball past Jordan Carey.

With 51 minutes on the clock, Alexis Andre Jr, who replaced Holden at half time, was called into action for the first time. Turyatemba’s free- kick was on target but Andre Jr pushed it over the bar.

The Stones then replaced almost all of their players around the hour mark before they made sure of the victory with a fine goal on 67 minutes. Trialist C cut across the edge of the area before unleashing an excellent finish.

There was still time another superb goal for the Stones seven minutes from time. Charlie Seaman sent a decent cross field ball over to Ben Brookes who flicked the ball up before lobbing it into the net.
