Maidstone United and Chatham Town played out a goalless friendly in an evenly matched contest at the Gallagher Stadium.

The Stones named five trialists in their starting line up and there were a couple of bright moments for some of them in the first 45 minutes. Ben Bridle-Card, one of three former Maidstone players in the Chatham side, was called into action to make two saves in the opening five minutes, and one right at the end of the half, from moves involving trilaists.

After enjoying more of the opening stages, Maidstone then found themselves with some defending to do as the visitors began to build some momentum. On 17 minutes, Erza Ikebuassi edged forward and hit a rising shot just high and wide. Joey Taylor then crossed for Che Krabbendan who was in a good position but he couldn’t make his header count.

The second half continued in a similar manner with not that much to note in the way of goal mouth action. For the Stones, a trialist saw his shot blocked by the Chatham keeper before it was cleared away from the line. And whilst the Chats put the ball in the net on 69 minutes, the referee, Kirsty Dowle, blew the whistle for an infringement in the build up.

Emmanuel Oloyede only had Harley Earle to beat but he scuffed his shot wide. Then the Stones had a great chance to score but the trialist at close to the left post fired the ball into the Genco Stand as the game petered out to a goalless conclusion.
