Goals from Reece Greenidge, Charlie Seaman and Aaron Blair, who hadn’t scored since New Year’s Day, was gave Maidstone United a comfortable victory against Bath City. This was the Stones’ first win in four matches as they looked to keep pace in the promotion race.

There was little to note in the first half. On 16 minutes, George Fowler tried to head the ball back to Alexis Andre Jr but Brad Ash nipped in. Ash shot on the turn and put the ball into the side netting.

Not long after this, Reece Greenidge passed to Tayt Trusty. Trusty mis controlled the ball allowing Luke Russe to gain possession. Russe rushed his shot though and hit the ball straight at Andre Jr.

Maidstone then had a glorious opportunity to take the lead one minute before the break. Aaron Blair did brilliantly to hook the ball past Jack Batten and run into space. With Harvey Wiles-Richards drawn from his goal, Blair picked out Arj Krasniqi who had an open goal but he put the ball wide of the left post.

Three minutes after the interval, Bath could have scored. Ewan Clark sent over a lovely cross from the left and Joe Raynes’ header went wide.

However, the deadlock was broken on 55 minutes. Blair and Krasniqi combined well in midfield and Blair released on-loan Tom Leahy who had replaced Riley Court at half time. Leahy did well to get into the box but perhaps elected to shoot a touch early as Wiles-Richards parried his effort and Bath conceded a corner. From this, Ben Brookes’ delivery was perfect and Reece Greenidge’s header flew into the net.

Four minutes later, Maidstone doubled their lead. Bath got into a mess at the back and Blair stole the ball off Batten before firing a lovely finish from an angle into the roof of the net for his first goal in ten matches.

For Bath, Ewan Clark got himself into a good position on the edge of the box. He spotted the opportunity to go for goal but his rising effort was comfortably claimed by Andre Jr.

Then on 78 minutes, Maidstone came within a whisker of a stunning goal. Tayt Trusty laid the ball back to Brookes whose fierce rising drive smashed into the bar.

The visitors were still occasionally threatening. With six minutes remaining, Clark’s shot on the turn didn’t miss by much but after this, Maidstone comfortably held on for the victory.

Deep in stoppage time, Charlie Seaman rounded off the scoring in style. He ran some distance showing good footwork on the way before riffling the ball past Wiles-Richards.
