Maidstone United chairman Paul Bowden-Brown has
paid tribute to the 14 supporters who walked from Kent
's county town to Ashford yesterday to raise funds to
Bring The Stones Home.
Bowden-Brown said: "I'm sure I speak on behalf
of everyone connected with the club when I say congratulations
and thank you to the 14 supporters who did the sponsored
walk at the weekend. Twenty two miles is a real challenge
and the 14 should be very proud of their efforts.
I'd also like to thank all those people who've pledged
sponsorship.
"I understand the Hobo Jones evening was a great
success too. I really appreciate all our supporters
are doing to help the club come home."
Unfortunately yesterday didn't see a win for the team.
Bowden-Brown added: "It has been a turbulent
week but the players who turned out gave their total
commitment to the club. The management team will be
looking to bolster the team in the coming days. I,
and all those involved with the club, are determined
to secure our Ryman Premier Division status for next
season.
"Much has been said about our budget and unpaid
players expenses recently. Let me say there's a budget
in place to support the first team and secure our
aims. And after the agreement by the players to defer
the payment of their January expenses until the end
of the season, due to the cancelled home games, I
can confirm all players have been paid since the the
begginning of February as agreed.
"I won't deny this has been a difficult season.
The inclement weather and lower attendances have hit
me hard. I've pulled out the stops to fund a first
team and all I'd ask, as we approach the business-end
of the season, is that supporters back me and the
team by heading to The Homelands for the remaining
home fixtures."

Maidstone
United moved swiftly to sign goalkeeper Andy Walker
from Billericay Town in time for this weekends
Ryman Premier Division game against Harrow Borough.
The move for Stones ex-goalkeeper was brought about
when ever present custodian Jamie Turner decided that
it was time to have a break from the game.
Andy Walker is no stranger to the club. He previously
kept goal for two seasons from 2007 to 2009, when he
became a firm favourite with the clubs supporters.
He's the current Supporters' Player of the Year.
Manager Peter Nott said, Jamie Turner was a
very important part of our team structure and I did
not want him leave the club. Luckily Andy Walker,
who is a very talented and experienced goalkeeper,
became available and is the perfect replacement
Walker has signed a loan agreement until
the end of the season.

Maidstone United chairman Paul Bowden-Brown has
spoken of his disappointment after Jay Saunders left
the club.
Saunders, who only last week accepted a coaching role
with The Stones, has re-joined his former club Margate.
Bowden-Brown said: "I was very surprised and
disappointed when Jay accepted an offer to go back
to Margate. Only last week he told the club's website
of his pleasure at becoming a player/coach. He also
highlighted that other players had turned down offers
to move because, and I quote, 'We are all good friends
and have been together a long time'.
"He was also very supportive when I was forced
to defer wages during January.
"That said, what's done is done. I offer him
my best wishes and thank him for his contribution.
"Players come and go, that's the nature of the
game. We'll move on and get on with our priority which
is to secure our Ryman Premier Division status."
17th February 21:30
Stones manager Peter Nott has spoken to Meshach
Nugent after the striker opted to leave VCD Athletic.
Nugent signed for the Ryman South side following an
agreement between former managers Alan Walker and Lloyd
Hume, and Vickers boss Paul Foley. The arrangement was
for a minimum of a month with an option to extend while
Meshach recovered from injury and regained full fitness.
Peter said: "I've spoken with Shack yesterday
and left the door open for him to speak to me again."
Club chairman Paul Bowden-Brown added: "As loan
agreements do not exist at our level, Meshach's registration
was cancelled so he could sign for VCD Athletic. It
was a gentleman's agreement between the two managements.
"I asked that his (Nugent's) progress was monitored
so we had the option of talking to him again when
he'd sufficiently recovered. He's a free agent now
so the future's his to decide. I know Peter (Nott)
has made contact and I await confirmation of Shack's
decision.
"Naturally I would hope he'd give us first refusal
as I facilitated, through the management team, the
move to help him and continued to pay his wages from
the time he picked up the injury through to his transfer."
15th February 10:00
Maidstone United Football Club have announced that
General Manager Bill Williams will take on an additional
role as Director of Football.
This follows the recent appointment of new caretaker
manager Peter Nott.
Chairman Paul Bowden-Brown said: I have asked
Bill to be the liaison between the management team
and the Board of Directors. Bill is a vastly experienced
football figure and will be there to assist Peter,
and his assistant Tony Cornwell, as and when required.
This arrangement will also give me more time to concentrate
on matters off the field. My main focus being options
to bring the Stones home.
Bill Williams said: Im delighted to be involved
and will always be available when needed. There is
a great deal to be done to make sure that we have
the type of exciting and competitive team that everyone
will be happy to support but that is obviously
down to Peter and Tony. My first aim is to secure
a permanent training centre a facility where
we are able to train and treat any injured players.
11th February 12:00
Due to the current injury situation at the
club we have moved quickly to secure the services of
21 year old central midfield player Craig Stone on a
game by game basis .
Craig played for caretaker manager Peter Nott at MUFC
from the age of 14-16 years old before joining Gillingham
where he made his 1st team debut at just 16 years old.
He made 15 senior appearances for Gills and a further
six at Brentford (on loan) before joining Ebbsfleet
where he unfortunately suffered a broken leg.
Craig has now recovered from injury and has been back
in in full time training for a month and we are delighted
to see him back in a Maidstone shirt and all being well
he will make his debut this evening.
Meanwhile the club has confirmed that following the
match at Aveley, Dean Bradshaw has opted to leave the
club.
8th February 23:00
Maidstone United have moved swiftly to appoint
reserve team manager Peter Nott as caretaker boss until
the end of the season, following Alan Walker and Lloyd
Humes sudden exit.
Tony Cornwell has been appointed as assistant manager.
Both positions will be reviewed in April with a view
to offering a further two-year agreement.
Club captain Jay Saunders has been offered the role
of player-coach and has promised to give the new management
a decision in a couple of days.
Nott and Cornwell, who step up from leading Stones
very successful reserve development squad for the
past eight years, said in a joint-statement: There
was certainly a little bit of a tingle in both our
stomachs when the chairman offered us the post, as
it is something we had always hoped we would be offered
one day.
Chairman Paul Bowden-Brown added: We are all
grown men, but I have to admit that the past 48 hours
have been very traumatic for me, having to say goodbye
to Alan and Lloyd and then ask two loyal servants
of the club to steady this ship, drive it forward
and make sure we are playing Ryman Premier Division
football again next season.
The new management team will be straight into league
action tomorrow night (Tuesday) when the Stones take
on Hendon at Homelands in Ashford with a 19.45 kick-off.
8th February 13:00
Maidstone United Football Club today announced
that the first team management duo of Alan Walker and
Lloyd Hume have left the club.
Chairman Paul Bowden-Brown said: "It was with
great regret that I have had to accept the resignation
of both Alan and Lloyd, but after a long conversation
both managers felt that they had taken this club as
far as they could.
He added: "I would like to place on record my
sincere thanks to both managers for the wonderful
job that they have done over the years in taking our
club to this level of football and I wish them every
success in the future."
Due to a number of postponements Maidstone United have
three games to prepare for this week - Hendon at home
on Tuesday, Carshalton away on Thursday and home again
on Saturday against Horsham.
