It’s not been a good week for Maidstone United. After losing Jay Saunders, Jamie Turner and Nick Barnes The Stones returned to Homelands keen to improve on their home form which is currently the worst in the division but instead they found themselves defeated once more.

After encouraging performances away at Carshalton and Billericay, Maidstone fans would have been hopeful that The Stones could have got something at home to Harrow Borough but instead there is now concern that Maidstone are involved a relegation battle.

This game could have had a different outcome had Jermaine Darlington taken the opportunity presented to him with just two minutes played. James Pinnock picked out the The Stones player inside the area but from a good position, Darlington’s shot was going wide of the right hand post until it was cleared by a Harrow player.

Then four minutes later the visitors opened the scoring when a defensive mix up let in Rocky Baptiste and although his shot was unconvincing, it had sufficient momentum to go past the sliding Peter Hawkins before rolling into the net.

At the other end, Danny Hockton managed to hit an acrobatic shot from the edge of the area as he was fouled but his shot cannoned off the bar and then on 34 minutes, Hockton should have equalised for The Stones when he found himself with only Karamoko to beat but the Harrow keeper made a smart save.

It was the visitors who dominated proceedings after the break and they created a number of chances. On 55 minutes Lewis Cook got in down the left hand side and squared the ball into the area. Tom Parkinson could not clear the danger and Kwasi Frempong reacted quickly to get a shot away which smashed off the underside the bar.

Three minutes later, Andy Walker kept the scores level as he made a flying save to tip a free-kick from Baptiste wide and then on the hour, Frempong was left in space inside the box but he miscued his shot and failed to hit the target.

Nine minutes from time Dean Fenton delivered a corner from the right which picked out the unmarked Tobi Jinadu only for the Harrow player to head over. However, Jinadu made amends on 87 minutes when this time he leapt inside the box to send the ball past the stranded Walker and then two minutes later, Harrow added some gloss to the scoreline when this time Dewayne Clarke scored with a header.
